A confession on this board is not a post on a feed. It is left at a place. Once you pin it, it stays at those coordinates and waits — it does not scroll away, and it is not shown to people because they follow you, because there is nobody to follow. The only way anyone reads it is by being near enough to that spot to find it.
That changes what is worth writing. A confession tied to the bench you actually sat on, the office you actually left, or the corner where the conversation actually happened means something to the next person standing there. The same words posted to nowhere in particular do not.
The coordinates stored with your confession are not the coordinates you posted from. Every confession is offset by a random 10 to 50 metres before it is saved, so the pin lands somewhere on the block rather than on a specific address. Someone searching that area will find it; nobody can read the pin backwards to a doorway.
You do not have to share your location at all. Tapping the map sets the pin manually, which is the better option whenever the place you want to write about is not the place you are sitting in right now.
Real people read these. Confessions that harass, threaten, or identify someone get removed, and anyone can report one. Beyond that, the board works best when it is used for the thing it is for — saying something true that you have nowhere else to put.
